Composition: 100% Tempranillo from Newsom Vineyards, Texas High Plains AVA
Price: Around $40 at Calais Winery in Hye, back in September, 2015
Wine typically doesn't make it this long in our house, but we're glad we waited. We picked up this bottle on our first visit to Calais Winery in Hye back in September of 2015. Lots of cherry and spice on the nose. On the palate it starts with dark cherry preserves, followed by cedar, tobacco and spice. It really hits all of the points of a well made Tempranillo with a bit of age. Medium tannins, as they seem to be mellowing a bit. Medium plus body and medium acidity. 14.5% ABV.
