Visit: September, 2016
Torr Na Lochs is located on a hilltop 180 acre property east of Buchanan Lake in Burnet,TX. This setting gives them amazing views of the surrounding hills and lakes which can be enjoyed from their large deck or from the tasting room. Torr Na Lochs planted their first 3 acres of vines in April of 2014, including Syrah, Malbec and Petite Sirah. They opened their tasting room to the public in September of 2015, and it looks like they've had a great first year in business.
Tasting are $10, or $15 if you would like to keep you glass. This includes tastings of 6 of their wines; 3 of their white wines, a selection of their Rose wines, and 2 selections of their red wines. There is a focus on using grape varieties that do well in Texas; including a Roussane, a Tempranillo, and and several wines that use Italian varieties that are becoming more popular in Texas. We enjoyed their wines across the board, and with most priced in the twenties, there is some real value in their portfolio of wines. Fion Dearg, a Tempranillo-Mourvedre-Carignan blend, was my favorite. Maria's favorite was the Dolcetto. Being only about 45 minutes from Johnson City, Torr Na Lochs is well worth the trip.

Likely one of the best road signs we've ever seen. Be on the look out for animals!
