Sister Creek Vineyards

Sisterdale, TX

Visit: September, 2016

The old cotton gin building that is now Sister Creek Vineyards

Sister Creek Vineyards in Sisterdale is located in a restored cotton gin that dates back to 1885, making for an interesting and historic setting for a winery.  Sisterdale is located a little east of Comfort and south of Luchenbach, so it's an easy trip for those visiting wineries in the Fredericksburg area.  The surrounding roads also provide picturesque views of the surrounding hills.  Sister Creek Vineyards was established in 1988, making it one of the older wineries in the Texas Hill Country.  The production area and cellar rooms are open for self guided tours, which gives visitors an up close opportunity to learn more about their wine making.

The Tasting Room

Sister Creek has a focus on wines made with Bordeaux and Burgundy grape varieties as well as a few highly rated Muscat Canelli wines in their portfolio.  Sister Creek sources grapes from their estate vineyard, other vineyards in Texas, and from California.  The tasting room offers a few tasting options, with one giving a change to try all of their current wines.  Their Muscat Canelli and Merlot were our favorites.  If you're looking for fun diversion from the crowds of Highway 290, make your way a little south and check out Sister Creek Vineyards.
