Rohan Meadery

La Grange, TX

Visit: July, 2016

Rohan Meadery is Texas' oldest meadery, and is located on Blissful Folly Farm between Round Top and La Grange.  Yes, it's an active farm with an apiary for their honey bees, grapevines, fruit trees, wandering chicken and sheep, and even some goats that hang out in the back of the property.  They make about a dozen different kinds mead, from dryer to semi-sweet, across a wide variety of flavors.  On our first visit we picked up a bottle of Peachy Keen, a mead made with local peaches.  They also make an off-dry Blanc Du Bois that's full of ripe stone fruit flavor as well as a few red wines.  Tastings are only $5 for 5 selections.  With their wide variety of offerings there's something for everyone.  The tasting room staff is a fun bunch that's happy to tell you about their products and farm.  They also have a lot of events for their customers, so be sure to check out their website or Facebook page when planning your visit.
