Grapevine, TX
Visit: February 2016
The Bingham family planted their first grape vines in Meadow, Texas, in 2003. Since then they have become one the big names in Texas wine grapes, providing their High Plains fruit to many of the state's best wineries. The Binghams' opened their Grapevine Tasting Room in 2015, bringing their wines to a bigger audience. They offer 2 tasting options for $10 each; an all-dry or a mixed sweet and try tasting. They utilize a tap system for the wines served in the tastings, which seems like an excellent way to ensure quality in the tasting room. The dry tasting gives a good introduction to the Bingham wines and what kind of wines that are being made in Texas now. I found their wines to be very competitively price, ranging from $15 to $25. Great bang for the buck here! Our favorites are The Dougout, a Bordeaux-style blend, and Turnrow, an interesting blend of Mourvedre and Tempranillo.
